The Graduate Certificate in Environmental and Resource Economics (GCERE) at Portland State University offers an introduction to important analytical tools, including cost-benefit analysis. Students in the certificate are both mid-career professionals and any student in a Master’s degree program at PSU.The GCERE offers small classes and expert faculty. GCERE faculty have done years of research in areas including:

  • Nepal
  • Ethiopia
  • coral reefs in Okinawa, Japan
  • land conservation related to climate change
  • economic impacts of fracking

Our students are both current Master’s students and mid-career professionals. Master’s students use it to round out their education with an emphasis on the environment and resource economics. Professionals use the certificate to advance or make changes in their careers.
